Portraits - 1

4" x 4"   Oil

My first portrait.  Challenging it was!   Actually everything has been challenging lately :(   Not sure why.  Perhaps I will paint faces until I tire.

Dog German Shepherd - Original Oil Painting

"Silly Mutt"

I wiped off so many paintings.  It has been difficult creating a third painting for the series-of-three.  This one got tweaked many, many times.

I'm going to take a small break from painting dogs and animals and I think I will focus on faces.  Just a little change to spice things up.

Thank you for stopping in :)

German Shepherd dog - Original Oil Painting

"My Girl"

4" x 6"    oil

This is Kira, the shepherd who strolled into our lives when she was only four weeks.  Cat-like, she grooms herself daily, sleeps all day and responds when called only if she is feeling up to it at that moment.  She sits elegantly and watches the world go by.  She is a young eight years.

This is the second in the series-of-three.

Thank you for stopping in.

German Shepherd - Original Oil Painting

"The Other Side"

4"x4"     oil

The weather has been muggy, humid and unbearable hot!  We've been drinking aguas frescas, mainly Agua de Jamaica.   We go through two jugs daily.  I can't make it fast enough!  Agua de Jamaica is a Mexican beverage which is super healthy and oh-so-simple to make!  Dried hibiscus flowers, known in Mexico as Jamaica (pronounced  hah-MIKE-ah) are used to make this refreshing drink (the flavor is similar to tart cranberry).  It's a mild diuretic and in Mexico it's often used to combat high blood pressure.

Agua de Jamaica

1 cup dried Jamaica flowers
4 cups water
1/3 cup sugar (or to taste)
4 cups ice

Rinse and drain hibiscus flowers in a colander.  In a large saucepan, bring water to boil. Add hibiscus flowers and sugar. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 15 minutes.  Mixture will be dark red in color.
Remove from heat.  Strain thoroughly, discarding all remaining flower petals.  Pour into an ice filled pitcher and stir.  Chill thoroughly before serving in tall, ice-filled glasses.  Enjoy!!

Brown Bear - Original Oil Painting

"Skinny Dipping"

5" x 5"    oil

We've been chilling, keeping cool by the pool, barbecuing salmon and corn, snacking on green salads galore and enjoying the starts of summer.

Here's the second bear in the 'series of three'.  I actually do not know what got into me and painting in three's...but it's making me feel like I have some order in my life.

Thanks for stopping by.

Black Bird Crow - Original Oil Painting

"Paint It Black"

3 1/16" x 4 3/4"  oil

I had a wonderful time visiting with my son yesterday.  As we had lunch it brought back memories; Saturday morning outings with my mom, visiting the circus, movies and theatre.  He was nearly a year old when we started to attend musicals.    Wonderful times.

Arcadia High School bag - Original Oil Painting

Game Day

 4 1/2" x 9"   Oil

This is one of the last photographs I took when my son was a senior playing ball.   Some of the boys just throw their bags down and go off  to chat.

What did I really see when I witness this ballplayer throw his gear down?  Of course...I saw a painting!
Thank you for stopping by :)

"Bird's Eye View"

3" x 5  1/4"    Oil

Every now and then I'm fortunate to see a falcon around our neighborhood.  This one was on a telephone pole not too far away.  I stopped the car and of course got the camera and snap, snap, snap.  Got-cha!

Thank you for visiting.

Black crow - Original Oil Painting

"Chasing Pavement"

4"x 4"  Oil

It took me three days to upload this painting.  I was using Internet Explorer and it seems to be moody.  So I tried Google Chrome and it was easy as pie...my picture uploaded instantly, without problems.  I'll be using Google Chrome from now on, my son uses it and loves it.

We have many crows in the neighborhood.  Captured this one in oil.

Thanks for stopping by.
