Black Lab - Original Oil Painting

4"x4" oil

Wow!  My brother-in-law takes great photos .  He posted his dog, Shadow, on his FB wall ( I had painted him once before) and when I saw his photo the other day...gosh! he tugged at my heart.   Therefore, I revisited (which a rarely do) and I got oil on him again.

My thanks to JR for the photo on which this painting is based.

A Tribute

November 25 ,2010 - November 9, 2011

You came into our life last Thanksgiving Day.  It only took a weekend to fall in love.  You would be at the door of your cage and nibble on food in my hand and stuff your cheeks with all the rest.  Then, you would stash it all away under your bedding, near where you slept and still come back (to the door) looking for more. Silly Hammie!

You would run and run and run on the wheel....where you were going or which marathon you thought you had to train so hard for... I will never know.  I would watch you from afar, you would run through those tubes and grab water, and nibble on the peanut butter ring.  Silly Hammie!

I watched you always, I made sure you didn't see me, because when you knew I was near you would be at the door (looking for food) ... silly Hammie!

I liked you so much!

Thanks for visiting,  you left us many beautiful memories.

Tommy Trojan USC Trojans - Original Oil Painting

Fight On

4 1/4" x 6"  oil

Has it been a while or has it been a long while since my last posting!  I have been working (and it's feeling like a full-time job) and being just plain-old mom, driving the boys to school, picking them up after their sports, dropping off at MMA, picking up from MMA...yada, yada.  I guess that's how it goes when there are three teenage boys in the house... just doesn't leave much time for painting :-(

This is USC's mascot, Tommy Trojan.   I snapped a pic of Tommy when our family went out to tour the SC campus in the Spring.  We all fell in love with the campus and I was happy to hear of the many activities that are available, the networking, and the unity they have.

Thank you for dropping by.

German Shepherd - Original Oil Painting

Saying Hi

7 7/8" x 8"  Oil

Here is Max when he first introduced himself to the boys and me.  Max would peer over the wall and was so sweet to us.  He would bring us his toys and we would toss them over and he would retreive.  He is a huge love bug with tons of personality!

Thanks for stopping by.

Terrier mix - Original Oil Painting

My niece went to an animal shelter looking to adopt a dog.  As she approached each kennel she peered in to see if there was a dog that caught her eye.  As she continued down the row of kennels,  she noticed a puppy sitting quietly towards the back of one of the kennels.  She asked to meet the puppy.   They visited and played.  They bonded.  Her name is Penny.  They are now inseparable.  Lucky Penny.

Thank you for stopping by.

4" x 4" oil on maisonite board

We took the boys to a paintball park last Friday and we were there from 2:30 in the afternoon until 10:30 at night.  By the time we returned home I was pooped-out!  Saturday we stayed home and caught up on things around the house and later that evening we had a movie-night.  It is always fun to have movie nights with the boys...I can't remember how they started, (we've been doing this since they were very young) but we rent a movie and turn down the lights and pop the popcorn, bake some brownies and presto...our very own Saturday Night Movies.  We love it!

Here is my latest painting.   We've been eating alot of pluots and other fruits with all this hot weather.  I sure do hope it cools down a bit.

Thank you for visiting.

4"x4"   oil
Yesterday I wasn't able to finish my work at the shop, so after I picked up two of my boys and made them lunch (and fed our dogs too) I returned to the shop.  It took me an hour and a half to complete my work, but now it's done.  Yea!   I returned home before my oldest son got back from his summer class.  You know, I feel bad when I have to leave my boys to return to the shop. I like to be home when the boys are home.  Later that evening my oldest son had a baseball game which didn't end until late.  All this just to say that I was so busy I didn't have any time to paint.  When I don't have a chance to paint for even one day I find that I miss it and look forward to getting my 'painting fix'.  Isn't that odd?

Thank you for stopping by.

"Granny Smith"

5" x 5" oil on board

I'm still struggling with all my documents and pics and trying to locate them from the backup that the Geek Squad produced.  It has taken me hours....just to upload this painting.  I've been sitting in front of the computer (for too long) and my sitting end just can't take it!  I've uploaded a different photo program and I'm hoping this will do.

I painted this granny apple  because I like the simple things in life!

Young girl on phone - Original Oil Painting

Long Distance

I'm back!   It's been a long, long wait for my computer to get better.  It got a very mean virus...and they aren't any fun!

But now that all is better, I hope to post more often.  I've missed it all!

"Just Waiting"

4"x6" oil on canvas board
Our cat was sitting on my son's desk...just waiting.  He sat there as I walked into the room and walked out.   He just sat there... waiting.  After a few minutes, I peeked in and i saw him sitting and waiting.  Wonder what he was waiting for.

"Red Onion"

Red onions, sometimes called purple onions, have a mild to sweet flavor. They are often consumed raw, grilled or lightly cooked with other foods, or added as color to salads.  Red onions are available throughout the year.

The eagle is such a powerful symbol.  It became the National emblem in 1782 when the great seal of the United States was adopted.

What an awesome bird!

Black Lab - Original Oil Painting

The Color Purple

Thought I would try it in purple.  Not too fond of this.  I feel it is too purple-ly!.  I won't be doing this again.  The one positive is perhaps you can tell it is a dog!

This is 5" square oil on maisonite.

Grey Cat - Original Oil Painting

6" x 4"  oil

Hammerhead showed up at her door one day, hungry, cold and no place to lay his head.  She took him in and gave him a good home.  He never goes hungry, and always has a warm bed.  She takes him to the vet after his occasional fights.  She has also opened her home to two other strays, and even feeds the squirrels that come near her door.  She has a kind heart.  She is my friend, Gloria.

Thank you for visiting.

LAPD Academy

What a challenge I've had trying to post to this blog through Picassa 3.  It's way over my head...but slowly...it's all getting done.

The Police Academy in Los Angeles.  The Academy is nestled in a picturesque setting of fountains, waterfalls, pine trees, and flowers. The classrooms, gymnasium, track, athletic field, obstacle course, and firing range, housed in and among Spanish-style buildings, are used for recreational and sports purposes, as well as training.
